This last week my baby had his two year birthday! How does that happen?! How did we go from this...

to this so quickly?

It is hard to know how much a 2 year old understands about his birthday, but Carter did seem to enjoy seeing a birthday banner up for him (even though he can't read)...

... and he spent all day singing "Happy Birthday" after which he would practice blowing out the candles.
Our big plan for Carter's birthday was to take him to a train-themed restaurant where your dinner is delivered to you on a choo-choo. But, seeing as we had a bit of a snowstorm that night, we ended up staying at home with some friends, and eating pizza. As a bit of a concession for missing the train restaurant, the boys set up a train track on the table and the kids ate their pizza and cake all while watching Thomas the Tank Engine make his way around the table.

And, of course the train cake and the cheesy birthday boy...

Carter and his friend Logan, anxiously awaiting the big moment...

We all sang "Happy Birthday" and then told Carter to blow (as if we needed to tell him, he had been practicing all day!) But this time when we said "blow", he started blowing kisses, perhaps he was all caught up in love for his magical choo-choo cake...

He did finally get to the right kind of blowing and he blew those suckers out all by himself!

Having lost my family photographer (Ann, who kindly took care of all our photography needs this Christmas, leaving me quite spoiled) we failed to get a lot of good shots of Carter on his birthday (come back Ann!). But, he still turned two, and we had a very fun "Choo-choo" Birthday! Happy Birthday to Carter! We love you and all the antics you bless us with!

Thanks for the pictures of the cute boys birthday. Looks like it was a fun day for Carter.
Happy Birthday, Carter! You are choo-choo cute! Work is starting to slow down; I'll have to start looking at flights to visit again. I miss you!
Blake says your family picture looks like one of those you find in a frame at the store since it is so adorable!
Happy birthday to little Carter! Cute cake :) I have been loving this warm winter! Now if spring will just arrive in a timely manner, I will say this has been the best winter I ever (at least in IL that I can remember)! I love Sydney's snowman though ;)
That cake looks familiar! You did a good job on it. Happy Birthday Carter!
