Second, and not very exciting was a flooded basement! This is the second time this has happened to us and it is not very much fun, even though Spencer says it is kind of exciting, I tend to disagree. There is nothing like that sinking feeling in your stomach when you walk down the stairs and find two inches of water on your floor. Sam made a good point though. He pointed out that at least it was not "this high" (hand over his head) cause then he would have drowned. We can always think positively, right? Thankfully most of the stuff that could have been destroyed was off of the floor.

I had to share the two things that made me so sad. These that hung on my wall when I was a little girl, made by my mom, and that were sitting in a box by the stairs waiting to go and be hung on Sydney's wall...(anybody know if I can get the water stains out?)

And a bunch of my favorite books from when I was a kid. Little House on the Prairie, Trixie Belden, and Anne of Green Gables. I loved these books! They are soaked through, I don't think they are going to make it, but at least they can be replaced. Thankfully, it could have been a lot worse than it was, and the plumber who came to our rescue was very helpful and kind.

Third, the beginning of soccer for Tyler and Sam. Unfortunately I didn't get any good shots of Tyler, no worries though, there will be plenty of opportunity. Here is one of Sam as the goalie. As you can see he is on the blue team. When his coach asked for ideas for a team name, Sam's hand went up immediately (I could tell he had been thinking about this and waiting for his chance) "I know, I know! We can be the Red Lava!" Sam was very upset that his idea was not chosen and cried all the way home, "I don't want to be the Blue Jays!" He got over it though when Tyler told him how cool the name was and what a cool uniform he had, and then took him outside to practice being a goalie. And, their practicing must have paid off, because no one got past Sam!

Here is Sydney looking forward to her days in soccer, or maybe this is just a fashion statement...

That stinks that your basement flooded! A week after Jared was born our washing machine kept pouring out water like it had done a year ago. Ever since then I've always watched it because it did flood our laundry room and hallway last year. So I was able to turn it off before it overflowed and was able to get the part we needed(our water is so bad it clogs up a shut-off valve).
I bet you could get those water stains out, but I don't have any bright ideas right now!
What caused the flood? Yikes!
I think those books are fine, words can still be read on crinkly pages :)
I can't believe Sam (that I've never) met is big enough for preschool. That means we haven't seen each other for W A Y too long!
I saw Sidney just a little while ago but she looks so much older already. CUTE. Sorry about the basement, I suppose it won't happen again with all that the plumber did.
your kids are so cute!
I just found your blog (thru a blog, thru a blog, thru a blog) and I am so happy to have found it! We miss you guys! We love the Gordons! We really need to keep in better touch! It's rediculous!
I can't believe how big Sydney is! I guess a year and a half will do that! The boys all look the same...just so grown up!
Can't you move closer to us? I know it would make a lot of people happy to have you out west! See what you can do about that.....
I hadn't heard that your basement flooded! What crazy weather we have been having! I hope you were able to salvage everything and can get out those water stains - those pictures are so cute. By the way, I need to get your email address so I can invite you to my blog.
